Burnished Clay PPU18-9

Burnished Clay by Behr has a more cool undertone to it and it can almost appear gray or taupe depending on the lighting. I’ve even noticed a slight blush undertone pulling through in my living room.

Burnished Clay is a soft color that will not overpower a room and will compliment surrounding furnishings and wood tones.

The color can appear more taupe when painted near warm wood tones. A cooler wood tone flooring will tone this color down and bring out more gray in the paint.

Light Reflective Value (LRV)

The light reflective score has a rating system between 0 and 100. If a paint color has a score closer to 0, this means the color absorbs light and will make a room feel dark.

A paint color with a score closer to 100, would give off a bright and light feeling. This would help make a room feel larger and give off a light airy feeling.

Burnished White Undertones

Burnished Clay is a true neutral color with a low to mid-tone. The color gives off a deeper greige appearance and compliments many wood tones.

Trim Color that Pairs with Burnished Clay?

You can’t go wrong with a shade of bright white trim to pop against any wall color. A great trim color to pair with Burnished Clay that is a bit softer than bright white is New House White by Behr.

Wood Stain Colors that Compliment Burnished Clay?

Burnished Clay looks great with a deep rich stain such as Kona or a Weathered Oak stain. Kona pops against Burnished Clay, while Weathered Oak brings out taupe undertones in the paint color.

Where Should I Avoid Burnished Clay?

I recommend avoiding this color in an area that is not well light as the color is a darker greige. I also suggest you avoid pairing this color with a blue green accent wall.

I previously painted a wall in the color Flint Smoke by Behr near Burnished Clay wall and the color almost appeared purple. After I noticed this purple undertone pulling through, I repainted the Flint Smoke paint color Burnished clay to match the other walls.

The purple undertone went away immediately after removing the teal paint color. So, be mindful where you paint this color or you might end up with a purple undertone pulling through.

Similar Paint Colors to Burnished Clay

Burnished Clay is similar to Agreeable Gray, Moderne White, and Natural Gray. I’ve painted Burnished Clay near Moderne White and Natural Gray and the color appears similar.

I recently updated the living room and dining room paint color to Moderne White. The paint needed a lot of touchups, so I decided to try a couple shades lighter to brighten it up. I ran out of Moderne white paint, so I left a small section Burnished Clay and you can’t even tell because the colors are so similar!

Conclusion

Burnished Clay is a great color choice for a dining room, a laundry room, bathroom, or a bedroom. The color looks nice in a living room too, but it can be tricky to use there if you aren’t mindful of your surrounding colors.
