I Had No Idea Iced Coffee at Home Was This Easy

I seriously had no idea this was a thing when it came to making iced coffee. I always thought you needed a fancy machine to make iced coffee or one of those coffee carafes with a filter in it.

Why didn’t someone tell me it was this easy to make iced coffee at home?!

This might seem like common sense, but I didn’t realize this was a thing until recently.

I previously spent over a $100 on a iced coffee machine because I thought that was the only way to make iced coffee at home.

The iced coffee machine was impossible to get clean because the wet coffee grounds stuck to everything in and the machine only made tiny batches of coffee.

This iced coffee machine broke only after about a year of use.

Glass Carafe for Cold Brew

I didn’t want to spend another $100 on a machine, so I replaced the machine with a glass coffee carafe with a filter inside to make iced coffee overnight in the fridge.

Again, this only made a small batch of iced coffee, the filter was so annoying to clean, and somehow every batch of coffee had grounds in it.

I broke my first iced coffee carafe attempting to clean it and purchased another one to try again. Well, I broke the next one on the middle of my sink after a couple of months.

How to Easily Make Iced Coffee at Home

Sadly, I was without cold brew and iced coffee for quite a while. Until I figured out that you could make it easily with your regular coffee maker.

step 1 to make iced coffee at home

Simply brew a pot of coffee in a regular coffee maker then remove the coffee pot from the coffee maker.

Place the hot pot of coffee onto a folded towel and allow to cool for about an hour or so.

Once the pot of coffee feels warm and no longer scolding hot, pour the coffee into a heat safe glass container with a lid.

Place the coffee into the fridge and pour over ice when ready for a cup of iced coffee.

The iced coffee stays fresh in the fridge for up to a week!

Save Calories with Iced Coffee

If you are trying to cut back on calories, skipping the coffee creamer is easier when it comes to drinking iced coffee.

I think a cup of iced coffee is less bitter and tastes less acidic, so it doesn’t need a sweetener.

Try your iced coffee with just ice next time and see if you can skip the sweeteners and creamers.

You can also, save yourself a ton of money on iced coffee by making a pitcher at home in your regular coffee maker!
