Bra Hack to Fix a Stretched out Bra

Don’t mind me wearing my hacked up Victoria’s Secret bra this summer. Okay, I could have done a better job sewing this bra, but I got this done in only 5 minutes and saved $50. This bra surgery has held up during multiple washes and wears.

Save Yourself Money with this Quick Fix

Every bra stretches out over time, but instead of spending money on new bras by adjusting the band or the hooks.

Strapless bras are notorious for sliding down because they quickly stretch out from only one summer of wear.

Instead of spending another $50 or more for a decent quality strapless bra, I performed bra surgery with a pair of scissors and nylon thread.

How to Fix a Stretched Bra

I debated on adjusting the band itself, but I was worried that would be too complicated or it would cause the bra to feel uncomfortable.

So, I decided on how small I needed the band to be and cut 1 section of hooks from the back of the bra.

I made sure to not leave the other hooks exposed or they could possibly dig into my back.

Then I thread the needle with a long piece of nylon thread and moved the newly cut hook to decrease the size of the bra band.

Any type of hand stitching works fine here and it doesn’t have to be perfect as your shirt will cover it.

So, even if you can barely sew this will still work. As long as you use quality thread and knot the stitching at the end, it will hold up.

It would definitely look better if you opt for a thread that matches your bra. I recommend a strong thread like nylon to provide a tight hold.

Stich the hooks in place then check that the hooks can securely fasten. Try on the bra and double check that you happy with the fit and make sure it feels snug.

There you have it a 5 minutes fix that saved you at least $50! It’s worth spending a little time being creative to save money and feel satisfied that you can fix things yourself.
